Embark on the Journey of Becoming a Master Knitter

The Knitting Guild Association (TKGA) has been certifying and recognizing Master Knitters since 1987, which puts skilled knitters to the test through a rigorous three skill level program requiring a minimum of three years. Since the program’s inception, only 355 knitters globally have shown the aptitude to be considered Master Knitters.

Ladianne Henderson, the owner of Cheers to Ewe, a yarn shop in Huntersville, NC., earned the distinction as a certified Master Knitter in 2018.  Before opening the yarn shop, Henderson worked as an art teacher. She had grown up watching her mom knit, but it wasn’t until 12 years ago that she seriously took on the craft.

“I really enjoyed it, I loved that it’s a never-ending well of things to explore from math to science to art,” she says.

From Sheep to Shawl

In a world of synthetic materials and mass-produced, cheap goods, knitting is an industry that still values the quality of the process “from sheep to shawl.”

“We lost touch with the origin of our products,” says Henderson. “Knitting is unique in that you can follow [the process] from farm to yarn, to the pattern, to the making of the product.”

Since opening Cheers to Ewe in 2016, Henderson and her colleagues have provided knitters with high-quality yarn and supplies for beginners and masters alike. Not only can you outfit your knitting arsenal with the latest and greatest, but CTE also offers classes that teach you everything from the basics to advanced garment-making.

A Match Made in Knitting Heaven

According to Master Knitters like Henderson, “blocking” your knitting pieces allow you to accurately determine the gauge (Stitches/Inch) and make your projects look more polished and professional.

Blocking refers to the process of gently wetting your projects in order to size it into your desired dimension. This is commonly done by stretching the piece with pins to a foam block marked with a measurement grid.

This is how the We Sell Mats & Cheers to Ewe Blocking Mats partnership came to be. We carry a blocking mat with a 1-inch grid printed directly on our EVA foam for a fuss-free blocking experience. The mats can even interlock to accommodate long sleeves and scarves.

Master knitters like Henderson encourage all knitters, beginner, or experienced, to take their craft to the next level — because every stitch gets you closer to obtaining mastery.

Wood Grain Foam Mats: Common Questions— Answered

Wood Grain Foam Mats, sometimes referred to as faux hardwood, have become one of our most popular products – often topping as our weekly best-seller. Their versatile design makes it easy to see why they’ve become so popular, but there are a number of common questions about our wood grain foam mats that we want to take a moment to answer:

How is the hardwood finish achieved?

The wood grain appearance is a durable printed surface right on the EVA foam. We’ve gone through several different processes and finishes over the years and we think you’ll agree that the wood grain appearance on our current generation of mats is as durable as it is beautiful.

Can the wood grain surface be scratched?

Just like any other EVA foam mat in our catalog, the surface is soft and can be scratched, although it is usually not too prominent or noticeable. Another thing to keep in mind with any foam mat, is that it is susceptible to indentation from items like heavy furniture or even women’s high heeled shoes.

Do the wood grain “boards” line up from tile to tile?

This is a common question and as much as we’d love to be able to offer this kind of precision, the answer is no. The mats are produced in much larger batches than the 24-square-foot packs we offer for sale, and we are not able to guarantee that the “boards” in your wood grain pattern will line up exactly from tile to tile. But the good news is that this hardly matters—The overall effect of an assembled pack is still great, even if the boards don’t match perfectly.

We’ve gotten hundreds of positive feedback reviews about our wood grain foam mats from many different customers, and we’re confident you’ll love them too. Check out our selection.

Flooring that’s Ready to Expand with Your Business

For small business owners, watching your passions flourish into a promising career is as good as it gets. As small businesses find success, they are met with unique challenges and opportunities to define themselves and fill larger shoes. One such opportunity is working with the added physical space that comes with an expanding business, be it an efficient office or a decorative sales floor. We Sell Mats is proud to support National Shop Small Business Day (Nov. 30th) by offering modern, innovative solutions for growing businesses in the form of beautiful and reliable flooring.

New Space. New You.

Whether your small business is expanding into its first location or a larger one, it is essential to establish the brand within that space. By housing your business in a place that aligns with the aesthetic appeal and values of your company, you have greater potential to translate your motivation to your colleagues, and your dedication to your customers. EVA foam mats are perfect for the job because they come in several unique colors and textures which makes accommodating any business’ identity a breeze.

Whether you’re looking for a sophisticated sleek look or old rural charm, we offer carpet and wood grain tiles that are cost-effective and easy to install.

Build Your Business Beyond Your Space

Thinking about knocking out some walls? Is the new location only short term? Compared to traditional flooring which needs professional installation and is far too impractical to transport to a new space, our interlocking foam tiles are easy to add to when expanding extra space and are just as easy to remove when heading to your new business location.

As exciting as it may be, expansion can make or break a small business, so it is vital that a growing company’s work environment is productive for employees and comfortable for the consumer. We Sell Mats is confident in our flooring options and the potential they have in the hands of capable small business owners. We encourage everyone to make a difference in their community by shopping small on Saturday, November 30th.

Get Holiday Trade Show Ready

Stash away the pumpkins and start shining the Christmas ornaments because the official holiday season is beginning now. If your business is featuring holiday specials, chances are you’re gearing up for upcoming trade shows. We Sell Mats knows it’s important to achieve the perfect look for your business.

According to the Center for Exhibition Industry Research, 81% of trade show attendees have purchasing authority for the companies they represent, meaning that if you want your business to make the most out of your upcoming trade show, it’s crucial that you get noticed. The most effective way to achieve this is by having a visually attractive booth to represent your company in the best light possible.

The Importance of a Well-Designed Booth

Trade shows can be hectic and highly competitive, and this only amplifies during the incoming holiday season. In order for prospective clientele to find what they’re looking for in the frantic trade show atmosphere, businesses rely heavily on the design of their booths.

Humans develop an opinion in one-tenth of a second and a thoughtfully designed trade show booth that encapsulates the message of your brand will determine if your company is among the trillions of business deals that take place at trade shows annually.

Eye-Catching Displays from the Ground Up

No matter the size of your space, there are plenty of fundamental ways for your trade show booth to make a lasting impression on attendees within your potential market. A booth is more than a meet-and-greet space, it’s an interactive experience for consumers to understand your brand better.

The objective? Transport attendees into (what feels like) a separate space, isolated from the chaos of the surrounding event. An easy way to make your booth stand out from the crowd is to set up a perimeter that maximizes the area of your booth with versatile flooring options that match the aesthetic of your brand.

We Sell Mats is committed to the success of your business at your next trade show and offers plenty of easily transportable, interlocking foam tiles and mats—designed with trade shows in mind. Forest Floor wood-printed mats are perfect for a sophisticated, modern look while carpet-top tiles provide an inviting, plush feel in a wide array of colors. Our versatile foam mats make setup easier and cheaper compared to bulky rolls of carpet or professionally installed wood. With our shoulder bag, up to 120 square-feet of interlocking tiles can be easily transported by one person. No matter what design trend your booth will embody this holiday season, tie it all together with our convenient flooring options that create a cohesive and eye-catching display.

How to Prepare for a Successful Trade Show

Attending a trade show is one of the best ways you can stand out against competitors. Trade shows are the time for innovation, knowledge sharing, and building up a clientele—and it’s something you should take very seriously. Plan your trade show booth months in advance with our guide on how to prepare for a successful trade show.

Why Trade Shows Are Important

For each industry, small and wide, trade shows exist to provide a network with industry leaders and possible future clients. They are the perfect venue for discussing your latest products and services with the individuals who have the power to promote your goods to a wider market. Trade shows are also incredibly vital for new businesses to scope out their competition.

What happens at these trades shows? Representatives from companies set up large booths and exhibit merchandise to connect with new prospects. The best booths offer interactive workshops or presentations—the more you mingle, the more smiles you’ll bring to your booth!

Create an Effective and Unique Booth

You don’t want to be the only booth without a distinctive, branded gift to hand out to the adoring crowds. Approach your giveaway with the same enthusiasm you do the rest of your job; a bland item only gives off the impression that you lack the initiative to take things to the next level. Challenge your marketing team to develop something eye-catching—something with an appealing exterior or with a humorous branding campaign.

Another important factor is knowing your audience. For example, if you are marketing to a young, vibrant crowd, set up a photo booth to grab their attention. Trade shows take place at enormous venues, and visitors can become easily overwhelmed by the number of pamphlets, brochures, and guest speakers. In a space brimming with information, offering a pause in the monotony of material might make you the go-to booth at the trade show.

However, the booth can only take you so far. You’re not glued to the stand, so move around and engage others to care about your issues. Whatever the business—from WrestleMania costumes for tiny dogs to volcanic ash face masks—there will likely be people waltzing about ready to receive your business with open arms. The trouble is making the effort to find those people and reeling them in with a quirky tag line and charming take-home gift.

Beyond the goodies and branding exploits, your trade show booth must differentiate itself. One of the best ways to stand out in a crowd is having a luxurious design to your booth. This starts with comfortable and attractive floors.

There’s no better feeling than stepping onto wood grain floor mats after a long day of mingling on your feet. You can assemble wood grain floor mats quickly, offering not only comfort but a professional ambiance unmatched by other flooring options. Wood grain mats come in a variety of colors to complement every trade show booth or other professional venues. The Forest Floor brand offers premium and elegant results at a reasonable cost for any area you see fit. The 3/8” thick mats can be trimmed to fit all desired surfaces and feature interlocking pieces for a precise and durable fit every time. Installment comes without adhesive, enabling you to swiftly set up your booth without unnecessary materials. Plus, you can easily treat spills with a gentle vacuum or mild soap—the mats dry quickly so you can return to socializing in no time. Instead of lugging used, heavy carpets to your tradeshow, package these wood grain floor mats in a compact carrying case and impress even the most stubborn of customers.

How to Prepare for Your Next Trade Show

We recommend planning for your trade show months in advance to give yourself ample time to create the booth of your dreams. Ensure your business’ name recognition by expanding your social media presence and reaching out to other attendees. Try to demonstrate your product beforehand via social media to stimulate interest and drive up attendance at your booth. Share any big news or upcoming product updates with your audience—they will likely respond well to your efforts to include them and gain knowledge from their viewpoints. It’s especially difficult to cater to each client’s experience and provide them a level of intimacy when you are bombarded with questions and hordes of people. Arrange pre-show meetings ahead of time with loyal consumers and partners. Prioritizing already loyal clients will likely further their dedication to your team and open new avenues for partnerships and business deals.

Your marketing and sales team should be on the floor, ready to inspire prospective buyers. Preparing them to remain calm in the frenzy of a trade show, especially if they’re first-timers, is a crucial aspect of running a successful trade show campaign. Now’s not the time to experiment—choose the faces that best capture your company’s attitude and adherence to your business principles.

If the budget allows for it, hire a graphic design team to layout a design that will complement your floor mat designs. You cannot plan a cohesive, eye-catching booth overnight, and the supplies and branding take ample consideration. Along with the design, consider lighting needs—illuminating your products in a way that highlights their very best features. Some of the most exciting new trends for trade show booths include:

  • Create a meeting room with a comfortable setting where you can meet with prospective buyers.
  • Stand out with visually appealing displays—a wall of plants brings life to a venue that can often appear frigid and intense.
  • If you’re in the food and beverage industry, make sure to give out samples.
  • Provide a rest area for tired guests. That way they’re compelled to listen to your brilliant campaign while benefitting from the relaxing space you have provided!

Your job isn’t over when you take down your booth. Following through with new prospects should occur as soon as possible after the trade show comes to an end. Analyze your leads and contact them as appropriate via email or other channels. Arrange a meeting with your sales and marketing teams to analyze your objectives and discuss what can be improved on in future trade shows. Trade shows supply an ideal environment to test out new ideas and refine communication and marketing techniques—don’t squander it!
