Lots of folks would benefit from a home gym or workout area, but they don’t pursue the idea because they don’t have a lot of extra space, they think it sounds unaffordable, or they just don’t know where to begin. We get it. You want to be healthier, have access to a workout on your own time, and you don’t want it to cost a fortune. We definitely get it, and we want to help.
What kind of fitness routine do you want to be able to do in your home gym? Martial arts? Pilates? Yoga? Insanity? Once you settle on the type of workout you want to do, we can help you choose the right flooring mats, the right amount to purchase, and even talk you through designing a configuration for your space.
Martial arts workouts often need extra padding and grip so our Tatami finish martial arts mats are ribbed for traction and come in different thicknesses to accommodate your requirements. Depending on the type of martial arts you practice, a single set of just 24 square feet might be ample. A little more movement and activity might increase the coverage area, but you can purchase single tiles to make them fit perfectly.
For floor work like yoga, pilates, and some body weight workouts, our standard solid color or wood grain mats make perfect fitness room floor covering. The solid colors vary in thickness like the martial arts mats, so you can get just enough padding to take the edge off, or enough to make you daydream about walking barefoot in your workout space! The wood grain mats are 3/8″ thick and add warmth, comfort, and class to any floor, whether workout room, family room, or bedroom. Many of our customers love them in their yoga studios because of how inviting they look.
Your home fitness area doesn’t have to take up a whole room – it could be a corner of the basement or garage. It doesn’t have to be loaded to the gills with expensive gym-style equipment. All you really need is a safe floor, a plan, and commitment. Your home gym will become your sanctuary, a place of health and growth for body and mind.
