Your Basic Tumbling Mat

Tumbling mats are simple, basic mats that essentially provide padding between the athlete and the floor. The mats should be thick enough to prevent injury, solid enough to provide stability and balance, easily maintainable, and quickly and easily moved and stored. We Sell Mats has the best tumbling mats available at prices so affordable, you’ll be ordering as soon as you finish reading this blog! Continue reading “Your Basic Tumbling Mat”

Springtime is Time for Gymnastics!

Spring is here at long last, and it’s not just the gymnastics enthusiasts doing cartwheels, believe us. But for those who are looking for some serious gymnastics gear with which to celebrate the pleasant weather (or release some pent-up frustration with the return of the pollen and allergies), we’ve got what you need. Tumbling Mats Tame Snow Days

It can really be a double-edged sword: the snow day. The kids are deliriously happy to get to stay home from school, and parents (who may have to stay home from work) dread the inevitable moment: “I’m bored!” Let’s face it, they can only play outside for so long, then they’re indoors and feeling confined. We Sell Mats to the snowy rescue! Continue reading “Tumbling Mats Tame Snow Days”

Top-of-the-Line Gymnastics Equipment

Gymnast doing a flip.

With Thanksgiving just behind us (and in all likelihood, mountains of food still settling in our stomachs, and leftovers calling our names from the fridge…) gymnastics might not be the first thing on our to-do list, at least not yet, but you can still do a little shopping for the mats you’ll need when you’re ready to get to it! We ship pretty quickly, too – you’ll probably still have turkey in the fridge when they arrive. So go on, have a look at the mats. There are a lot of them, so we’ll give you some ideas to digest alongside the stuffing. Continue reading “Top-of-the-Line Gymnastics Equipment”

Get ’em Off the Couch

Kids are home after school, wanting nothing more than to shrink into a ball on the sofa or bed, clutching the video game controller or cell phone, retreating into a sedentary, digital world. We all need a little time to unwind, but we also need just as much, maybe more, time to be active. Where’s the balance? Continue reading “Get ’em Off the Couch”

Tumbling and Gymnastics

Tumbling vs. Gymnastics. You’ll see classes for kids offered in both, so what’s the difference? In a nutshell, tumbling falls under the larger umbrella of gymnastics, though it has characteristics that distinguish it from other types of gymnastics. Tumbling involves acrobatic moves like flips, jumps, handsprings, and rolls linked together in a choreographed routine. Gymnastics, on the whole, would include tumbling, but also other disciplines that include all the gymnastic apparatus. So which is best for introducing your child to the sport? Continue reading “Tumbling and Gymnastics”

Play Spaces that Grow

Ok, they don’t actually grow in the biological sense, but play spaces can actually be transformed as your kids grow and their needs change. Unlike their toys and clothes that must be replaced entirely as they grow up, kids’ play areas are unique in that they can be redesigned and rearranged using the same space. One way to do this is (obviously!) using floor mats. Continue reading “Play Spaces that Grow”

Gymnastics Participation Continues to Rise

It makes sense that watching an activity you enjoy can increase the likelihood that you’ll participate in the activity when you have the chance. When the World Cup rolls around, there’s a spike in the number of folks heading out to the backyard to kick the ball around. If you’re in Rio in 2016, you might be inspired to take up swimming again. Not sure so sure about the odds for curling, but you get the idea. One of the activities that has seen steady growth in the past years is gymnastics, especially where children are concerned. Gymnastics…For Life?

Kids are often encouraged to try lots of different sports and activities as young people, experimenting with different teams and hobbies to see what will stick. As we get older, we realize that activities like parkour or swinging kettlebells are probably not things we’re going to be able to do for very long because of the intense demands these activities place on our bodies. So we learn what we like and what we can do with a certain level of challenge and safety in mind. So should we start the kiddos off with bocce? To quote an old ’80s sitcom immigrant, Balki Bartokomous, “Of course not, don’t be ridicuous!” Continue reading “Gymnastics…For Life?”
